JOB DESCRIPTION
Set up banners and tee signs- Each day banners need to be hung in visible areas and sponsor tee signs placed on the course.
Take down banners and tee signs- Each day banners need to be taken down, rolled up and sponsor tee signs removed from the course and stored.
Player Package distribution – Help assemble and distribute packages to players at Tournament Central during registration check-in.
Set up tournament central- Tables adjusted, leader board displayed in spacous viewing area, adjust leader board for best player flow, equipment,and signage set up.
Take down tournament central- All none park items removed from area and stored.
Errand runners- Someone with a good knowledge of Madison that is willing to drive any where in town if a need arises. Also will need to run errands on site, such as keeping water coolers full.
Spotters- Watch the play on an area of the course where discs may be lost or thrown out of bounds. If not out of bounds, do not pick up disc, but show players where their disc landed so players do not need to waist time looking. If thrown out of bounds place a flag at spot where you saw it last leave the in bounds area of play, do not pick up OB disc, show player where disc landed. This must be a clear decisive decision made quickly. If you did not see throw, the players must make the judgment. The group of players can overrule your spot if the majority of the group agrees to overrule. Unless you are a certified official, you should never make a ruling of play. You are only spotting to help seed play by guarding against lost discs.
Sales disc stuff- Sell tournament merchandise at Tournament Central. Sell raffle tickets.
Raffle Director- Collect prizes, lead ticket sales, give prizes away at tournament central when appropriate, document prizes given away; to who and retail worth.
Party Patrol- Set up and clean up lunch distribution and eating area at Tournament Central before 1st round ends and between rounds.
Public Relations- Data entry. Gather media e-mail contacts to send press releases to media highlighting local and famous players three weeks before tournament. Send scores to local newspaper and TV media highlighting local and famous players Saturday and Sunday.
Course Director at Hiestand Park- Must be a PDGA Certified Official. Make rule judgements when needed, including gathering all penalty and disqualification information to forward to Tournament Director.
- See that cards are immediately tabulated and phoned to Tournament Central.
- Direct set up of course central (near back stop fence, or near kiosk and 1st tee), have or know how to use cell phone for constant communication with tournament central.
- Set up banners, T signs and any other promotion.
- Set up two water stations, one at 1st Tee, one near holes 8, 9 and 10.
- Guide press, sponsors and public to best view event. Push Sunday finals at Vallarta-Ast.
Course Director at Elver Park (Saturday only)- Must be a PDGA Certified Official. Make rule judgements when needed, including gathering all penalty and disqualification information to forward to Tournament Director. Courses director makes best judgement call, report to TD. TD makes all final calls.
